I was doing okay listening to Benedict Cumberbatch’s ‘Cheat on Butter’ ad.

Frankly, I was more amused with how he said ‘peas’ and ‘butter’, but then he said

“you naughty thing” 

and I let out this little strangled noise and covered my face with my hands

…’kay, guys? Go find it on Youtube. I’m about 99% certain it’s not him. Listen, really listen. No way. The accent and the tone are juuust wrong for it to be him. (And his voice is a little deeper, but that’s beside the point.)

Mrr, it could not be him. And really, even if it isn’t him, I’m going to pretend it is because Benedict Cumberbatch saying “you naughty thing” hits me in all the right places. 

Buuut I think speaking with 99% certainty it isn’t him is a bit of a stretch? I mean, maybe it’s a case of me hearing what I want to hear (and apparently what I want to hear is Benedict Cumberbatch speaking to me in a sultry voice about butter???) but I was comparing Cumberbatch reading a poem about the Jabberwock vs the butter commercial, and I thought it was pretty spot on. Their voices have that same kind of reverb thing going on, and I don’t see much of a difference in tone.

Of course, I could be wrong. We don’t know for sure, do we? 

But as I’ve said before, regardless of who this really is, I think it sounds enough like Benedict for me to be satisfied.
